CALLING ALL TEENS (13-18)- COME ENJOY A FREE AFTERNOON OF DIGITAL AWESOMENESS!
The Maker Space @ NYSCI is super excited to be hosting our first "Learning Labs Pop-Up" on Saturday, February 16th from 1-4pm. A social environment with fun, engaging, youth driven activities! Check out the Maker Space blog to see what we have been up to. http://makerspace.nysci.org/
There will be MUSIC, GAMES, FOOD, PRIZES and Creativity Stations, such as:
MOZILLA WEB MAKER: Make AWESOME stuff on the web. Build your own webpage. Pick up some coding skills (HTML & CSS). Remix a youtube video. Create a meme....Become a Webmaker! (https://webmaker.org/en-US/)
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: Work NYSCI's Explainer TV and create digital images and video to share with the world!

3D PRINTING: Design and print a personalized keychain with a Makerbot 3D Printer & Mike from Pixel Academy (www.pixelacademy.org)
COMPUTER ANIMATION: Work with 3D Models or create your own and animate them using Blender. Ray From NYSCI will walk you through the steps to make a quick short or hang around and create your masterpiece!
BEAT MAKING: Remix, record & create your own digital beats with World Up! http://worldup.org/blog/
HACK A GREETING CARD: Modify the circuitry to create and manipulate the prerecorded cheesy song that it comes with!
FORCED PERSPECTIVE IMAGING: Use your cellphone camera to create forced perspective images with various toys and printed images.
SOUND RECORDING: Use a contact microphone to listen to, record & sample sounds from everyday objects. Grab a hanger, listen to a doorknob, bang on a table and record your own Experimental Sound Project. Then add it to your animation film or your Digital Beat you made with World Up!
